Our verdict is that the Mini is reliable first and expensive second, and the reports back both halves. On reliability the reports are boringly consistent. A fan moves warm air around them, which is what forced-air means, so every egg sits at close to the same temperature instead of the hot and cold pockets a still-air foam box leaves you with. The standard forced-air set point for chicken eggs is about 99.5F, or 37.5C. Digital control holds it there and a turner rolls the eggs for you, and the thing owners say about it most is dull and reassuring: the temperature holds, and the unit lasts.

What we wouldn't do is buy it to hatch two dozen eggs at a go, or buy it once for a single clutch of one or two. Seven eggs is a hard ceiling. Per egg the price is high, and a Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 holds far more for less money. If you're hatching a couple of eggs one time to raise a successor to a favorite old hen, the better answer is a cheaper box and your own thermometer, and one keeper pricing the Brinsea out said as much in the threads. I have the small "mini advance" I've had it uh, 3 years, maybe 4. The brinsea doesn't have a display for humidity, temp seems to be spot on. I have several Styrofoam incubators, all of them the temp and humidity are laughably wrong, like not even close.

I have the brinsea 7 egg round and had no problems with it. I got a full hatch and it did great. The only thing I would change is to have a separate hatcher. When the eggs started to pip and hatch it got crowded in there and they started to move the unhatched eggs.

Not the greatest in the world but holds temperature relatively well, normally within 0.2°C, holds humidity well, auto turning, built in candling light, only $60 on Amazon.

We had a little decade-old Brinsea auto-turn but it came out of (improper) storage only blowing air (no heating, digital displays not working). I looked at the prices on an updated version and, woo, they got spendy (though I might still go with that outlay if recs fall that way).

Nurture Right is what most of my friends use. I use an IncuView (~$160, hatches up to 28 chicken eggs) with a HumidiKit but there are other more affordable humdity add-ons to the newest version of IncuView.

In my opinion you need internal readers for any incubator under 300$. My mana pro is always wrong. The internal readers show my machine runs 1-2 degrees cold and my humidity is always off.
